But can't you just leave cats alone for a day or two if you put extra food and water out? My cat isn't very interactive. Couldn't you visit every other day or every few days?Contrary to popular belief, domesticated cats are highly social creatures who benefit from regular and loving interaction from the people in their lives. Even cats who aren't immediately social need the security and comfort of a daily visit. Extra time spent with shy or nevous kitties often results in eventual trust and bonding. Medical and situational emergencies happen with cats more often than is thought, especially with elderly or sick pets. For the safety and well-being of our feline friends, we require a minimum of one 30 minute visit per day. We encourage more than once/day if possible.
-
What about dogs? If I have a doggy door, could you come just once/day?"We require a minimum of two 30 minute visits/day for dogs for the proper care.comfort, and social stimulaton dogs need in order to have as little stress as possible during your absence.

Can I request you come at a specific time for the visits?Although we cannot guarantee exact times for our visits, we do work within a one hour time frame for time-sensitive sits. For less time-sensitive sits, we work within a two to three hour time frame for morning, midday, and evening sits. For example: Morning visits are within a 7 to 10 am time frame Midday visits are within a 11 am to 1 pm time frame Evening visits are within a 5 to 7 pm time frame We regret that at this time, we cannot start sits earlier than 7 am or later than 7 pm. Please note that inclement weather, traffic situations, emergencies, etc may cause a delay in our arrival time. We will contact you if our delay will be significant.

How far in advance do I need to book? Is there a last minute booking fee?If possible, we appreciate a week's notice during "off season" times, or two weeks to a month's notice for summer and holiday time bookings. This is to ensure we will be able to accomodate your sits. We understand that sometimes unexpected, emergency, or spur-of-the-moment trips do occur, and we are happy to accomodate last minute requests when we are able. Because we work as a team, one of us is almost always able to step in and help at a moment's notice. Please note: For sits requested in 48 hours or less, there will be a $10 to $15 surcharge added to the total invoice. Short notice requests may be of shorter duration because they must be worked in our already booked schedule, and likewise sits that are time-specific may be earlier or later depending on our schedules. Thank you for your understanding!
-
What if I forgot to get extra food or other supplies? Do you do errand runs?We are happy to do a supplies run if you forgot a pet supply or a supply ran out during your absence. Each supply run is $25 in addition to the cost of the supplies. We will add this to the final invoice.
-
Do you water plants? Collect mail? Take out garbage? Other house tasks? We are glad to help do light plant watering* (a few indoor/outdoor plants), collect your mail and paper, take out garbage and recycling, alternate or turn on/off lights, raise and lower blinds/drapes, etc. Normally these tasks can be worked within our allotted time for your sit. *Please note that we no longer do extensive watering. Please be aware that extra fees (ie hauling extra heavy trash bins to the street, excessive clean up of pet areas. etc, difficult medications, etc ) will be charged for the extra time/effort involved in these more extensive duties. Thank you for understanding.
-
Are you insured and bonded? We are insured through Pet Sitters Associates, LLC, and carry a special "protection of the property of others" addition to the policy, which is akin to being bonded.

-
Do I need to provide you with a key copy? Can I file my key with you? If I want my key back after the sit, how do I get it?"We encourage clients to file at least one, preferably two, copies of their house keys with us so future pet sits can be accomodated quickly without the added task of figuring out key pick ups/drop offs. There is no fee to file keys with us. The initial key pick up at the consult has no charge. If you choose not to file your key with us, we provide one complimentary key return. Additional key pick ups are $25, and subsequent drop offs are likewise $25. Thank you for understanding that we must schedule in a key pick up or drop off, and the average time involved is 30 minutes for each key exchange. If you do not feel comfortable filing a key with us: many clients give us garage codes or door codes, or they hide a key on the property and have us re-hide the key after our assignment is completed. We also have clients who prefer to drop keys off in the Kitty Meow Meow mail box, and pick keys back up from the same mailbox. Let us know what key arrangment works best for you!
-

My friend/family member/neighbour will be coming over periodically during my time away. If they take care of things any given day, can I cancel sits?"If a friend or family member will be visiting or sharing part of the pet sit assgnment, we ask that they provide us with a log of their visits so we know their pet care duties have been completed. If a friend or family member takes over pet care that we were originally assigned to do, the original charges for those visits will still apply if less than 24 hours notice is given.
-
I'm coming home early. Do I still have to pay for services not rendered? We understand that sometimes your return day/time is earlier than planned, and we're usually flexible with our cancellation policy. Most of the time there is no cancellation fee. However, if we aren't informed of your early return and have already driven to your home, we will charge the normal pet sit rate for that visit.

My pet has a contagious illness/disease. Can you still pet sit for him/her?For the safety and well-being of all the pets in our care, we won't be able to pet sit for animals with contagious illnesses/diseases. Thank you for your understanding.
-
Do I need to flea treat my pet before I leave? We require all pets in our care to be flea-treated, even indoor-only pets. Fleas can still be transmitted to animals who live only indoors. We work with dozens of animals a day, some of whom may have fleas, some of whom may be severely allergic to fleas. It just takes one flea to create a problem. For the safety and protection of your pets and the other pets in our care, please be sure to flea treat your animals before you leave home.

Do you do overnight sits/house sitting? We network with other professionals who do overnight sitting. Please contact us for details.

How many people work for you? Will it be just you doing the sits? Can I request just you? If not, can I meet the other sitters ahead of time?"I have one assistant, Sean Miles, and I also network with two other professional sitters in our area. During busy times, I rely on backup help to ensure all pets in our charge are getting the utmost care and attention that they need. Unfortunately, I am not able to guarantee that I will be the only person on an assignment, but I do my best to be if you request it. Please note that I still may need to utilise backup help. It is not always possible to arrange meetings with backup helpers, but we do our best to accomdate that if requested and there is enough time before you leave town.

My cat usually eats twice/day but I want once/day visits. Will this be all right? To reduce stress and unwanted gastrointestinal upsets, we strongly encourage pet owners to keep their pet's feeidng routines as close to the usual times and methods as possible. Cats tend to develop vomiting and/or diarrhea if their twice/day feeding is combine to once/day. Please consider the comfort and wel-being of your kitties when booking pet care for them.
